Let's say you run a successful garage. You want to buy yourself a new car to celebrate the prosperity of your garage. Because you own a garage, it can be as unreliable as you want.
Because your garage is successful, you set a nice $60k budget. Here's the fun part, let's say you know a guy who's cousin knows a guy that used to date this guys sister that knew a guy who runs a shipping company. And if a certain car was to show up on one of his boats, he could overlook it.
Me? I'd buy an E34 wagon overseas (more options), swap an N54 twin turbo engine (because insane tuning capabilities), full M suspension, a BBK, and spruce up the interior. It comes in under $60k, and since I own a garage I can do the work myself.
What would you go for?
i bet you thought I forgot about let's say

$60k should cover enough motor rebuilds to last at least a few thousand miles.

Obvious answer is obvious.
That was my first answer, but then I saw this on r/BMW and I literally haven't stopped thinking about it all day.

It's a tragedy we don't have any of these cruising around our American roads. I'd love to change that...

If I had the option to pick any cars in the world for $60k, I'd be up for days deciding what cars (yes, plural) I would bring....

Love that E92... And if the saab is in good condition (it looks like it is) you definitely did steal it!

Define good condition. Not really, it needs a new tranny solenoid about $150, leaks antifreeze (I'm guessing it's a hose somewhere), and it needs either a new blower motor or resistor. Maybe even wiring. But it came with a ton of free to me mods and around 300 whp so ya... Non running ones can fetch 3000, as it's rebadged wrx. I figured I could rebuild the motor and put a newish tranny in there for less then 5k including the car and even after that I could still sell it for a profit. :) oh and the hatch doesn't open...

Good condition = capable of being hooned haha. Yeah you can get a pretty nice profit if you sell it. Just throw around that it's basically a WRX in the ads and I bet you'll get calls from people who have no clue what it is

Then it's in the best condition. I was breaking the tires loose at 50 mph yesterday, yes it needs new tires but still it's much hoonable and very jalop (Swedish/Japanese/American hatch). It gets 251 points on the jalopmeter if you count the trunk as welded shut. I really don't want to sell it though as it's way too much fun ;).

You could always keep it so you can keep the E92 out of nasty weather!

How do you people keep finding awesome cars for so cheap?!
The only things I ever see for 2k are rusty old trucks or Cadillacs with blown head gaskets

Engine from:
Put into Chassis of:
With brakes from:
transmission from:
And limited slip differential from:
All of these cars except the 300ZX were not available in the US, but the parts are either interchangable or easily modified (if you have a shop) to work in the 240Z-G body. So paying enough to bring over a 240Z-G chassis (which is legal to import) and a menagerie of parts (from cars that are not legal to import) is a JDM Nismo wet dream.

Look for obscure brands on craigslist, I atcually have to thank opposite lock for this car because I never knew it existed. Second either keep your mind open and choose a few cars you want and be ready to accept a couple of small issues (we are jalops after all). Last have some money set aside because a lot of people need money quick and they'd be willing to negotiate for a much better price if you are able to buy it in the next 3 days.
